Curtis T. Miyamoto , MD
Dr. Miyamoto currently holds four academic appointments at Temple University as Chief in Medical Oncology, including Acting Service Chief in Medical Oncology, Medical Director at the Cancer Center, Professor and Chairperson of the Hospital, and Professor in Radiation Oncology. He is a staff radiation oncologist at the Temple University Hospital and held this position previously at Hahnemann University Hospital and West Michigan Cancer Center. Dr. Miyamoto has been a reviewer of numerous journals including American Journal of Clinical Oncology and on the editorial board of Radiation Oncology Investigations. He is a member of several professional organizations at the local, regional, and national levels. He is involved in many committees at Temple University and Hahnemann University and their affiliated hospitals. Dr. Miyamoto has published over thirty peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals. In addition, he has written various other literatures including books, chapters, and abstracts in Radiation Oncology and holds two patents. He has given over a hundred presentations around the world regarding different aspects of radiation oncology and patients care. He is an executive board member for the Philadelphia County Medical Society, a founding member of the Association Ibero Latinoamericana de Terapia Radiante Oncologica, a founding board member of the Robert Zaloga Brain Tumor Foundation, and on the advisory board of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Dr. Miyamoto is involved in cancer research and has research grants from U.S. Department of Defense and the Robert Zaloga Brain Tumor Foundation. He received his degree of B.S. in Biology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and M.D. degree from Universidad de Navarra in Spain. He completed his residency in radiation oncology from Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He currently holds a M.D. license in Pennsylvania since 1988. Dr. Miyamoto has won the “Physicians Recognition Award” from the American Medical Association in 1994.
Diwakar Jain , MBBS, MD, DM, MNAMS, FACC, FASNC, FRCP
Dr. Diwakar Jain has MBBS, MD, DM (cardiology), MNAMS (internal medicine), FACC, FASNC and FRCP (UK) degrees and other professional affiliation. Presently, Dr. Jain is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia since 2001. He is also the attending physician in Hahnemann University Hospitals in Philadelphia since 2001. Before joining his current appointment, he held various faculty positions at Yale University School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.. He holds prestigious positions in various national and international societies. Currently he is the President of the Cardiovascular Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, and serves as an editor of Nuclear Medicine Communications. Dr. Jain is also a reviewer of numerous medical journals including, Circulation, the Journal of American College of Cardiology, Lancet, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, the American Journal of Cardiology. Dr. Jain chaired the subcommittee of the Quality Assurance Council of the ASNC and authored guidelines for pharmacological stress perfusion imaging in clinical practice. He has been a visiting professor and consultant in several countries. Dr. Jain is currently a Principal Investigator on several Cardiology research projects. In addition, he is involved in developing several other protocols in the fields of myocardial perfusion imaging, silent myocardial ischemia and ambulatory monitoring of left ventricular function and behavior and heart disease. He is serving as Chairman of a multi-center Phase II study: A Phase II Study of 99mTc-glucarate in Chest Pain Patients Suspected with Acute Coronary Syndrome with No Obvious Signs of Acute Myocardial Infarction and with Known Previous CAD.. Dr. Jain has presented over one hundred abstracts in national and international scientific meetings and conferences. He has authored or co-authored over 100 original scientific papers, reviewed articles and book chapters and published two books. He has given over 150 lectures, orations and grand rounds in various educational institutions in the USA and all over the world.
Herbert Y. Meltzer, MD
Dr. Meltzer, MD, is Bixler/May/Johnson Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology and Director of the Psychobiology Program for Translational Research at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also Director of the Schizophrenia Program of Centerstone, a mental health system in Nashville, Chair of the Young Investigator Grant Review for NARSAD. He served as chairman of the International Psychopharmacology Algorithm Project (www.IPAP.org). Dr. Meltzer received his medical degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. His decades of research on schizophrenia encompass a wide range of investigation: clinical and basic pharmacology, genetics, suicide prevention, and alleviation of cognitive impairment. Dr. Meltzer has been president of the collegiums International Neuro-Psychopharmacologicum (CNP) and the American college of Neropsychopharmacology (ACNP). He served as editor of Psychopharmacology: The Third Generation of Progress and coeditor of the ACNP journal, Neuropsychopharmacology, and he is a member of the editorial board of numerous scientific journals. Dr. Meltzer is the recipient of the Efron and Paul Hoch Awards of the ACNP, the Noyes Prize of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Edward J. Sachar Award from Columbia University, the Lieber Prize for Schizophrenia Research from NARSAD, the Stanley Dean Award for Research in Schizophrenia of the American College of Psychiatry, the Gold Medal Award of the Society of Biological Psychiatry, the Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in Research of Vanderbilt University (2004), the Research Prize of the American Psychiatric Association (2005), and the Grant Liddle Award for Clinical Research from Vanderbilt University (2008). Dr. Meltzer is a member of the editorial board of five scientific journals. His research interests include: clinical and basic psychopharmacology, with an emphasis on antipsychotic drug efficacy, safety and tolerability, the mechanism of action of antipsychotic drugs, genetic factors in schizophrenia and pharmacogenomics, prevention of suicide in schizophrenia, and cognitive impairment in schizophrenia. Dr. Meltzer has published 773 scientific papers, 151 book chapters and 115 book reviews, special articles and letters in national and international clinical scientific journals.
Peter J. Barrett-Lee, MBBS, BSc, MD (London) FRCR FRCP (Edin) FRCP (London)
Dr. Barrett-Lee is currently Deputy Medical Director at Velindre NHS Trust and Cardiff University, UK and NHS Trust Cancer Centre. He is a lead clinician in breast cancer with a practice managing approximately 400 new patients and 3,000 follow up patients per year. He is also involved in setting the standards for breast cancer treatment and in writing the clinical guidelines for the management of breast cancer. He was the National Chairman of the breast guidelines group of the Clinical Oncology Information Network and an elected member of the NCRI Breast Clinical Studies Group UK. Dr. Barrett-Lee has published more than 40 papers, several book chapters, and more than 100 abstracts. He is actively involved in new cancer drugs development, research in biological predictors of treatment resistance, and metastasis in breast cancer relapse. He is currently Chief Investigator in three UK NCRI approved randomized phase III trials and actively involved in several earlier phase trials employing new agents.
Purvish M. Parikh , MD, DNB, FICP, PhD, ECMO, CPI, MBA
Dr. Parikh is a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist with more than 16 years of experience in all facets of clinical research. He has received several professional degrees in Oncology/Clinical Research from USA, India, and Europe. These degrees include MD, MBBS, and a PhD in Applied Biology. Till recently, he was Professor and Head of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai. He is also is the Vice President of the Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology and Chairman of Indian Co-operative Oncology Network, India. He has received more than 25 prestigious National and International awards for academic excellence – including National Citizen’s Award, India and Golden Jubilee Medal for best MD thesis at University of Mumbai. He trained numerous MD students and Doctor of Medical Sciences (DM) students for super specialization in Medical Oncology and supervised several Ph.D. students. Dr. Parikh is affiliated with many prestigious organizations in USA, India, and Europe and holds important positions in many of the organizations. Some of these include Editor for the Indian Edition of Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO), Editor of Indian Journal of Cancer, Editorial Board member for Annals of Oncology, Founder Member of Developing Countries Task Force of European Society for Medical Oncology, Visiting Fellow at Oxford University, and Founder Member of Board of Asia Pacific Lung Cancer Group. Dr. Parikh has written 12 books, 33 book chapters, and more than 185 scientific papers as a first author and co-author in National and International medical journals. In the field of clinical research, he has been a member of Global Steering Committee, Chairperson of Ethics Committee, and PI for more than 50 global pivotal studies.
Raj K. Sharma , MD, DNB, FSN, FMSA, FAMS, FASN
Dr. Raj K. Sharma is the Dean and in charge of the Hospital Administration and a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow, India. He did his MBBS and MD from Delhi University, India and MNAMS (super specialization in Nephrology) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi India. He is part of the International Medical Sciences Academy (FIMSA), American Society of Nephrology (FASN) and National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS) India. He did his additional super specialization fellowship in Nephrology and Renal Transplant from University Alberta, Edmonton Canada and Texas, USA. Besides his role at SGPGI, he has held many other administrative appointments, which include membership on the Advisory Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Medicine and Vice Presidency of the Indian Society of Nephrology. Dr. Sharma holds professional memberships in Nephrology, Organ Transplantation, Hemodialysis and Immunology. Dr. Sharma has received numerous prestigious awards and honors, one of which includes the Life Time Achievement Award from the Trust Hospital of Madras Kidney Trust and Hypertension Research Foundation. He has played a prominent role in developing the super specialty of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation at SGPGI, Lucknow. Dr. Sharma is also the Head of the Academic Section and is responsible for supervising teaching and training of MD resident doctors, PhD students and Doctor of Medical Science students (DM; a super specialization training in Nephrology & Renal Transplant). Dr. Sharma has attended over fifty seminars, workshops and conferences world wide. He has presented more than 300 papers/abstracts and published over 235 papers in medical journals and wrote 14 book chapters. He was a visiting professor at many prominent universities in Canada and USA.
